Drone racing is growing in popularity. The latest indication of this is PCS Edventures!.com, Inc. (PCSV) efforts towards creating the Scholastic Drone Racing League. With the completion of the Idaho Drone Institute, which was funded through a statewide grant funded by the Idaho STEM Action Center, 22 Idaho schools, libraries, and visitors from California and Texas joined in on an educational drone workshop. The Idaho Drone Institute constituted a two-day workshop in which instructors received hands-on training in drone technology, including from Thrust-UAV professional drone racing pilots. The aim of the two-day workshop was ultimately to prepare them for the implementation of the PCSV Discover Drones package in classrooms in fall.
Earlier this month, PCSV announced a partnership with MultiGP Drone Racing, with an aim to bring a Scholastic Drone Racing League to junior and senior high schools across the United States. With the ultimate goal of bringing the drone racing league to over 20,000 schools across all 50 states, Todd Wahl, president of MultiGP, traveled across the the U.S. to explain the nuts and bolts of first-person-view ('FPV') drone racing, and to discuss the details of the partnership between PCS Edventures and MultiGP. The Scholastic Drone Racing League is currently under review for statewide expansion.
