"Incredible Skies" Open to Drone Racing in New Zealand

New Zealand's Civil Aviation Authority ('CAA') has recently released a new regulatory framework which has opened New Zealand airspace to drones in the Hokianga test range, also labelled "Incredible Skies". The drone test range seeks, among many other things, to encourage and facilitate national and international research on drones. More to the point, the 874 square kilometre drone test range will also serve as a forum for drone racing competitions to take place. The designated airspace is far removed from New Zealand airports, and all activities will need to comply with CAA requirements.
