The Airbus Cup, an international drone racing tournament comprised of teams of employees from around the globe within the multinational Airbus group, will be taking place on May 12, 2017 in Toulouse, Frace. The competition involves finishing, in the fastest time possible, three laps around a challenging drone racing obstacle course. Pilots will of course be racing around the track in first-person-view that is to say, with 3D augmented virtual reality goggle.Participants have been working on designing their own racing quadcopter drones since April, using state-of-the-art design software, as well as 3D printing technology. Except for a basic kit, all teams will need to rely on their very own technical know-how and skills to come up with the fastest, most efficient, and cutting edge racing drone. The drone race should be a display of sheer ingenuity, creativity, and innovation in the drone racing arena. The Airbus cup is being held within a larger technology exhibition, the FabLab, a four-day tech exhibit for innovators and tech enthusiasts featuring guest speaker events, tech workshops, and much more. The exhibit is taking place between the 11th and 14th at FatLab Artilect in Toulouse, France.
