Drone Racing Heating Up in China: Shanghai Drone Racing Competition

Following a successful event last year (2016), Mobile World Congress Shanghai ('MWCS') will be hosting the 'Drone Zone', an international event focused on displaying the latest in drones, drone-related technology, and drone services, including from the leading, giant drone manufacturer, DJI. The event will showcase drone technology related to consumer markets, as well as industrial and commercial applications of drones. During the event, GSMA, a trade body that represents the interests of mobile operators worldwide, will host its very first national drone racing tournament at MWC Shanghai. The top drone racing pilots from across China will be gathered for this race, demonstrating the human element that is, the heightened degree of focus and extreme mental reflexes required to become a successful first-person-view (FPV) drone racing pilot. Attendees at the event will be able to watch the adrenaline-filled races in real-time as the elite drone racing pilots race their way through the specially designed course in first-person-view (FPV). More information on the drone race, including a list of the 2017 exhibitors and the full conference agenda, is available on the MWC Shanghai website.
